Bf109E's over thge North of England and teh North Sea?

Hi Guys,

Been Reading a book by Nick Thomas titled "Ben Bennions DFC, Battle of Britain Fighter Ace" in particular pages 120 AND 127 and it seems to mention that there was combat with 41 Squadron with 109's off the North East Coast of England??
I may have misread what is said, but I was always under the impression none ever flew over the North East of England, as they never had the range to return to Denmark and Norway even with drop tanks, if they would have been used. I do realise that the RAF did have the Luftwaffe licked when they did come from Aalborg and Stavanger during 1940. But when the Luftwaffe came over it was in aircraft such as the He111, Do17 and Me110, which had the range.

I realise this particuular book bounces about a little. But I thought I would just throw the question out.

Best Regards
