Dieppe Aug/42
I just finished reading the recent issue of Britain at War. It mentions a Luftwaffe airman who was on a destroyer that was disabled, later transferred to another then I presume onto Britain. Another book on Dieppe that I read recalls a soldier on shore watched a German airman paddle to shore where he was taken prisoner, later he went onto a landing craft that evacuated the beach. The damaged landing craft took on water and sunk offshore. The Canadian was then recued a little later. He doesn't mention if the airman was recued or not. I presume very few Luftwaffe personal made it back to GB. My question is how many became pows from the Dieppe air battles?
