That wouldn't be the first time. These local historical societies are run by volunteers. Some are interested in WW2, some aren't.
You could try the town archive. Locals could go to the town hall and claim damaged or destroyed property in Belgium in 1940. If an a/c didn't damage any property or crops during an emergency landing then the removal of this a/c in most cases did. With any luck these claims are kept in the town's archives.
