Re: Robert Edward Roberts, RAAF
Hello,
Re: the A705 Casualty File of AUS417760 Robert Edward ROBERTS RAAF, it should be noted, that pp.1-20 of this file do not relate to P/O Roberts, in fact, they should be in the file of 138249 LAC J G PAYNE RAAF, of No.5 Airfield Construction Squadron, who died of injuries received in a motor-truck accident at Biak, PNG. on 22 March, 1945, (see also 138900 C. R. FORD RAAF)*.
The NAA routinely limit availability to a lot of files. they simply, and without notification, limit access to files. They are in flagrant breach of their Charter in so doing! The excuses they have offered in the past include, "Site down due to routine maintenance" etc., rings very hollow to the patrons that are trying to access the files, some of whom have spent countless wasted hours trying to access them and are left wondering, "Is there something wrong with my computer?".
* I sent an email to the NAA on 20 December, 2006, informing them of the above error. Whether they ever received it, I wouldn't know - I certainly did not receive a reply. The file might have been corrected since then, for that we will have to wait until the NAA gets off their collective well-shined butts.
Prior to his RAAF service, P/O Roberts also had service in the 18th Light Horse (Machine Gun) Regt., (see: DVA Nom. Roll), Australian Army - S41912. He had married Miss Sylvia Ruby Rogers, of Bargoed, Glamorgan, South Wales, on October 16, 1944.
