Re: German designations of Soviet aircraft types
I-17 - it seems Yak
I-18 - seems MiG-3
I-180 - seems I-16 of late versions and, especially, its seems cannon-armed (in wings)
I-26 - yes, it seems Yak
I-61 - yes, MiG
But anyway, according to my experience in research, Germans called all modern narrow-nosed fighters as I-18s most often and made extremely many errors. So it doesn't matter if it called I-18 or I-17 or I-26 - it still could be MiG, Yak or LaGG.
