I was recently talking to an archivist at the Polish Institute and Sikorski museum (where the tailfin from one of the JU88's is on display) and they suggested that only one of the Ju88 was probably shotdown by 303 squadron and ground fire had brought the other down.



I'm writing a short blog on this and would be interested in your pictures. I think I know the one with Flt. Sgt. Popek with the Iron Cross.

Do you happen to know where the Ju88's had taken off from?

Also, after the attack on New Mills and Hayfield I believe (see below) they attacked a quarry at Stoney Middleton before strafing Chatsworth House as the escaped to the east.

A plaque t Stoney Middleton suggests it the attack was by 2 Me110's but i think this is incorrect.
