Re: RAF Mustang codes (213. sq.)

Hi Gabor
My research so far has led me to believe that somewhere around
KH815 Mustang IVs were either painted or not .The majority of camouflaged Mustangs were received painted from the US Some were repainted in the UK others were not especially those that went direct to the Med . Others were sent from UK to the Meda nd would have been re-painted . In Italy it seems that the A/C were accepted in US finish initially
The whole question of actual camouflage schemes is a mine field with MKIV and IVA. 19% of P51K built in september 19444 were rejected owing to excessive vibration with the Aeroproduct props . This may account for why some earlirer S/nos were unpainted and later ones camouflaged .
As a point of interest ALL P51D / K produced for the RAF and Commonwealth with the exception of some trials A/C were Dallas built
Really you need to look at a photo of an individual A/C up to KH815 .
After that from all the photo's I've seen the A'C were in NMF
Another 213 Sq MkIVA is KH835 NMF AK*R

I mean most of them remained natural metal with British markings, but some of them got painted with the standard late grey-green camouflage. Any idea and/or more codes? Thanks,

Gabor
