Hello Alain,

MACR 8477.
Date given as 1st September, 1944.
Crashed and burned.
Witness statement has -
"approximately 6 Miles East of Beaumont, Belgium".

So possibly in the near locality.

He was Re-interned in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rochester, Monroe County, New York on Saturday May 28th, 1949.

The "findagrave" page has at last viewing at least 6 photos as well as family details.

His DoB was 14th July, 1922.

The P38 was 43-28408 - "9D-Z".

"Losses of the 8th & 9th AAF" vol 4 has on page 576
" note:- Belgian civilians buried Lt. Schiefen near the wreckage. Reinterred in US Military Cemetery Fosse at Namur, Plot L-3-54 on 7th November 1944. Final reinterment is in New York".
