Re: Walther Dahl
Nick,
The book is "I Joined the Russians" by Count Heinrich von Einsiedel ( Yale University Press:1953). I read it many years ago in an University library and bought it in 1995.
The book is written in a diary form and has some very interesting passages.
One great passage talks about his time with Soviet Army:
"Sometimes near a small farm or settlement were scattered five, ten, or even twenty disabled Sherman tanks or T-34s. In the village would be a destroyed German antiaircraft gun, a tank left lying in the street, an uncoupled antitank , a heap of antitank mines, and a few dozen dead Germans who had sold their lives as dearly as possible."
Currently there are two copies of this books for $3.68,plus shipping from a bookseller in Minnesota. Check out ABE
