Your comments about Knoke's character reinforce the impression that I got from reading "I Flew for the Führer". As one of the very few personal Reichsverteidigung accounts, this book is invaluable for the unvarnished and harrowing insights it provides into late-war Luftwaffe operations in the West. A must-read.
