Can't provide any details at all I'm afraid but this reminds me of a friend of an ex-girlfriend. He was a young lad in WW-2 and living near Bury St Edmunds and remembers a bomber being shot down and crashing nearby. He mentioned that the pilot was wounded and taken to hospital. Not sure what time frame he was referring to but it might of been around that period.
