Hi Keith. This says it is a D-model from II/5 on Corsica , 42-25829 was a D-22-RE with an odd camouflage scheme. II/3 Dauphine were also on Corsica then (at Alto with the 57FG) they had a few razor-backs like 42-26157 no. 63 (they had white side numbers like the 57th). Both unit's razorbacks had yellow bands in line with the 57th.
(Factory camouflage had been deleted in production as per the Erection and Maintenance manual with D-20-RE 42-25274 so these were painted afterwards).
This is the photo; the 57th squadrons were at Amendola ( a major B-17 base on the mainland, 2nd and 97th BGs) until they moved to Corsica in March 1944.
