Ju 88 of KG 77, Egypt, September 1942
Can anyone identify which Ju 88 of KG 77 was shot down over Egypt and crashed into Lake Birket Quaran (Fayoum Oasis)? Some or all of the crew were taken prisoner and a signal was sent back to London about them on 11 September, so I guess they were shot down in the first days of the month.
There are several candidates in the Gen. Qu. loss lists but of course the crews are only recorded as missing at that point and the location is "unbekannt".
I won't be in London to check the ADI(K) reports for quite a while, so if anyone has the answer meanwhile I'd be grateful for their help.
