Reconnaissance plane shot down over Tallinn. July 1941.
Dear Forum,
I'm trying to find an information on a reconnaissance plane/pilot on allegedly shot down over (or near) Tallinn, Estonia by either ground AA fire or fighter pilots.
The pilot survived and was captured by soviet navy.
This episode was described by a soviet admiral in his memoirs. Based on his account of the events, it happened on (or around) 19th of July 1941.
I'm a distant relative of the admiral and quite a few years ago came into possession of a watch which was taken from the captured pilot as a war trophy.
I've been doing some on and off research over the years but could not find any info on who the pilot was, what type of plane, what was his fate etc. Tried many websites like ww2.dk and luftwaffe-zur-see.de but no luck.
Would be great if someone could point me to the right direction or help to find the information.
Thank you in advance!
Anton
