Ju 88 A-1 U4+TK (Wnr. 0880119) has been pretty well documented throughout its recovery and ongoing restoration.

ju88.net. While browsing that website, I stumbled across a diorama of the aircraft displaying the wreckage as it was originally discovered. This diorama can be seen here:

Now is it just me or are there bulges on the underside of the engine nacelles? I understand that the bulges are for oil coolers, but didn't they only appear on the A-4 and later variants due to the engine upgrade? It's my understanding that the A-1, with its less powerful engines, did not have ventral bulges on its nacelles, so why does the model in the diorama have them?
