Weismann

Hello all

While researching Leutnant Ernst Weismann (69 victories, RK, missing in action 13 August 1942) I came across the photograph at http://www.messerschmitt-bf109.de/di...otonummer=2942 that is of the incident on 10 April 1942, when his Bf 109 F-2 "Brown 5" (W.Nr. 8266) collided with a Bf 110 twin-engined fighter on take-off. However, Ota Jirovec was kind enough to send me the following loss list information from the JFV series:

20.3.1942 Zusammenstoss beim Start mit Bf 110, Schatalowka, Bf 109E-7 3631, braune 5, 100 %

10.4.1942, Start ausgebrochen, Wjasma – Gradina, Bf 109F-2 8266, braune 7, 95 %, wounded

I am not all that knowledgeable about the Bf 109 series but the fighter in the photograph does appear to be an F series. Could this be the photograph of another incident or is the information that this was E-7 (W.Nr. 3631) incorrect? Any help would be very appreciated in clearing this apparent discrepancy up.

Horrido!

Leo
