No conversion was needed, except possible removal of ballast. Very few aircraft were in fact flown with the "fenders" (actual "cutters traps" were only at wingtips where the wire was cannelled by the fenders), but stocks of them Fenders held in several locations, just in case. Other solution was coming, much lighter fenders (aka so called "cutters" that has been coined by some) built-in as part of the heated-leading-edge in wings but A-14 did have protective fender stips on nose, so did Ju 188s.
I belive most cars have fenders, not cutters, but same can be "used" for tearing up others autos.
