Re: Photo Nieuport
Hi Clint
New photo to me. I could have done without the pencil though....
Not sure from where you get that Rickenbacker flew N6193?
Aircraft was assigned to Lufbery from 16 April 1918 to 19 May 1918. It was actually damaged by Lufbery on landing already on 1 May, but was obviously still considered to be "his" aircraft. It was passed on to Philip Davis who used it from 23 May until his death 2 June. All my sources indicate that.
Rickenbacker on the other hand was assigned aircraft N6159 which he used from 15 April to 28 May when he switched to N6283 finally taking over N6169 on 7 June
Now, as you know, assignment is one thing and reality another. We know that pilots in units borrowed aircraft from each other due to various reasons so unless we have Rickenbacker's logbook we can't say with certainty if he ever flew N6193 or not. But there is no published evidence that I know of which says that.
Cheers
Stig
