Re: Do 215 loss On 2-7-1940

Indeed I do.

Do215 (0040) G2+EH of 4./AufKlGrObdL failed to return from a reconnaissance sortie to Leeds, Hull, and Billingham, its last radio message coming from north-west of the west Fresian Islands at around 52 N 4 E. Crew was: Beo: Oberfw Heinz FRIEDRICH, Ff: Fw Helmuth APITZ, Bf: Uffz Walter NEIGE, & Bm: Gefr Herbert HABEL all missing.

It was engaged 80 miles off Withernsea by Red Section of No.611 Squadron (R1 F/L W.J. LEATHER, R2 P/O J.R.G. SUTTON, & R3 P/O J.W. LUND) at 9.15 a.m. When last seen both engines were pouring smoke, the British pilots breaking off to avoid petrol shortage.
