Re: 2/Flüg Uberf Geschwader 1

Yikes! That's the most corrupted abbreviation I've ever seen!

Your abbreviation as stated should be: 2./Flugzeugüberführungs-Geschwader 1. More correctly, the abbreviation should be 2./Fl.Ü.G.

But you are probably talking about this unit, which was a Gruppe rather than a Geschwader:

Gruppe West/Flugzeugüberführungs-Geschwader 1

Formed April – May 1943 and by 23-24 September 1943 had a Stab (at Villacoublay/Süd near Paris) and 5 Staffeln:
1. Antwerpen (fighters);
2. Villacoublay/Süd (bombers and fighters);
3. Villacoublay/Süd (bombers and fighters);
4. Münster-Loddenheide (bombers and fighters);
5. Romilly-sur-Seine (bombers and fighters).
24 Apr 43: first mentioned in surviving documents as Gruppe West/Flugzeugüberführungsgeschwader 1.
10 Jul 44: being reorganized with Stab and 1. Staffel at Wiesbaden-Erbenheim, 2. Staffel at Mannheim-Sandhofen, and 3. Staffel at Köln-Ostheim. A POW judged reliable told his interrogators that 35% to 40% of all the aircraft ferried to France from May 1944 were destroyed or damaged in landing accidents on arrival due to the inexperience of the pilots and the rough condition of the dispersed fieldstrips where the fighter units were operating.
25 Jul 44: once again fully operational at the 10 July locations.
