Oskar Romm

Hello Anders

Many thanks for your additional contribution to the loss list information on Oskar Romm. I am sure from what Obermaier writes as well as both Prien's and Wood's victory lists that he was serving with 1./JG 51 at the time of these incidents. Quite possibly he simply "borrowed" the fighter from 2./JG 51 on 4 December 1942. I would like to know, though, when he was transferred to 2./JG 51 in 1944. The last victories that I have listed by him in 1944 are on 5 February when he claimed no less than six victories (71-76) while with 1./JG 51. I then have that he was transferred to the Stabsschwarm of IV.(Sturm)/JG 3 on 1 June 1944 and appointed Staffelkapitän of 12./JG 3 on 7 July 1944, the same day that he claimed his 77th victory against a B-24 while with 2./JG 51. I also know that he was briefly seconded to I./JG 300 in an instructional role in June 1944 but nothing as to when he was transferred to 2./JG 51. For what I see in the various victory lists he only claimed one victory with 2./JG 51 (on 7 July 1944).

Horrido!

Leo
