I was hoping you would answer.
I went with a Nieuport because I thought I read an N before 9041.
Looking at your points, all very valid has caused me to question my initial identification, based on the 9041 which appeared credible for a Nieuport and the number 18 which is in AEF syle.
However, I now deduce, to answer your question is it really a Nieuport we're looking at, No. It is in fact Avro 504K D9041 and I'm going to remove the post from this thread if I can and place it under the Avro thread.
