Interesting that a memorandum ( 22 Jan.1936) from RAF Hinaidi Iraq to Bahrain/ Muharraq ordered flights to keep outside of territorial limits along the HASA coast on the Gulf ie. E.Saudi Arabia; Muharraq was on the Basra ( Shaibah) route to Karachi and no doubt used as a stop-over as there was an RAF installation there but no units assigned. Sharjah in Oman was another. Ras Tanura is about 40 m. NW of Bahrain.
I didn't see any reference to a navigating aircraft for the flight in the file; for the Africa route they used Hudsons, Blenheims, Baltimores/ Marylands or Bostons.
