I think it is fair to say that although it is an interesting read, "The Hornet Strikes" is not particularly strong for those interested in aircraft serials.
For example, in Chapter Four to Six, dealing with the May40 to Mar41 period, not a single serial is mentioned.
Appendix D - the Aircraft, is just a list of serials with annotations to show those lost in accidents or lost to enemy action. No details are given of dates, pilots etc.
