Re: C-46B-10-CU from 313TCG/74TCS crash in Belgium april18 1945
Unfortunately above info isn't the whole story. Plane came down around 5.30 p.m. on a group of houses in the Rue Dandois at Ransart, a community of Charleroi. Plane fuel ignited four houses.
Two civilians were also killed in the blaze: a woman and her 13-yr old daughter Lucienne. Another daughter, Mariette (14) got a broken leg and two of five crew members were injured. The three killed airmen were 'carbonisés".
This all according news reports in the Journal de Charleroi of 17 and 18 April 1945.
Injured co-pilot was Lt Homer D. Anderson. C-46 came from Grove, England and was in its second landing attempt.
