Thank you for posting these photos of W.Nr. 501221. An enlargement shows that it is not a ripped joint tape between the blue/red bands on the rear fuselage but a yellow? vertical stripe signifying that the aircraft was from III. Gruppe.

Addendum: I have just examined closely the vertical bars of W.Nr. 110007 and 110800, both of III./JG 7. Both have short yellow bars with white surround within the blue/red bands, not extending beyond the upper and lower limits of the bands seen here. Yet the vertical stripe here seems to sharp edges and a squared bottom. Any ideas?
