Re: Luftwaffe Air Combat Slang

I suppose Kaczmarek (wingman) is the best known — but what is its origin? Someone in fiction, or a cartoon character maybe?

Amis, Tommis, Ivans for opponents.
Mühle (mill) for an aircraft (or just the engine?)
Aal (eel) for Torpedo

For veterans of NSG 9, serving in Italy, a Staffelkapitän was “der Capitano”.
