Some AAF enthusiasts might be interested in the origin of these distinctive "lion" decorations. When Roger Freeman was researching for his B-24 book he found a B-24D at the Oklahoma Modification Centre with a lengthened and deeper nose to fit a tail turret; this allowed a major area of decoration, a subsequent colour photo appearing in a magazine which went to various Air Forces around the world some of whose later model B-24s adopted the style with some variations. Eighth AF had several and there was one in the RCAF with No.10 Sqn.
