Re: Algiers raid, evening of 13 January 1943
Laurent,
I've found almost all the names of the crewmembers of the two P.108:
MM 22004: cap. pil. Giambattista Semprini, ten. pil. Giulio Cervi, serg. arm. Dante Corradini, serg. mot. Turco Luigi, 1° av marc. Atelio Bonaccorsi, av. sc. mot. Antonio Paggi
MM 24317: ten. pil. Gianmaria Sotgia, ten. pil. Guido Lucon, serg. arm. Molisani, 1° av. mot. Avio Scognamiglio, av. sc. mot. Angelo Fantinato, av. sc. marc. Lorenzo De Sario.
The book "Sparvieri e Predoni", history of the Decimomannu airport by Demontis and Ragatzu, states that De Sario (the name in the text is De Cario but it's likely erroneous) jumped with parachute, being rescued by an Allied ship: because he was badly wounded, he was recovered at the Algeri hospital.
The target of the mission of the two bombers is indicated - in the secondary sources I've checked - as "Algeri"; only the volume 6 of the serie "Dimensione Cielo" states that the target was Algeri harbour.
Ciao
Gianandrea
