Jinxed isn't accurate.. These pilots were well trained and experienced, however flying an obsolete aircraft.
Had they been flying a Mosquito the records would have been much different.
Quite easy for a BF109 to sit back out of range of the Blenheim's .303 Vickers K-Gun and empty cannon shells into the aircraft.
My Grandfather 40045 William Henry Edwards DFC was awarded the DFC flying Blenheim L9041 following successful bombing raids on Stavanger, scoring hits on a Dornier Seaplane. This aircraft was later shot down on a similar mission with a different crew.
107 Squadron were incredibly brave and largely unacknowledged.
