The then, P/O J A Mahood, had earlier served on No. 148 Squadron RAF:

29/30 May 1942
148 Sqn
Wellington IC DV654
Op: Tmimi.

Took off 00028[sic], ALG 106, to attack the landing ground at Tmimi, belly-landed after engine fire 28km SSW of Sidi Barrani, and destroyed by crew. They then walked to the frontier wire at El Beida, and signalled a Bombay, which later returned and circled, dropping a message and water bottles, the crew being later rescued by lorry.
