Well, he became CO on May 9, 1943 and continued to be untill the end of the war. 78 iap SF flew Kittyhawks as fighter-bombers mainly. That's - as far as I know, because I'm not keen in Northern theatre actions.
Yuriy Rybin is the best researcher for this case.
