Did 17 and 501 Squadrons, RAF, mount any operations from Jersey in mid June 1940,or was it just a lay over on the way back to the UK from France?
I have seen mention that operations may have been mounted from St. Helier airfield to cover the evacuation of Cherbourg, but nothing concrete.
There are also references to the possible abandonment of unserviceable aircraft at St. Helier on 19 June, but again nothing concrete.
Does anyone have anything more on this?
