No, but I have worked in book publishing for a long time. Around the time the U.S. Postal Service made it impossible for foreign customers to buy books from us, so-called e-readers appeared everywhere. I recall reading that they were a popular gift in the UK, but sat unused in their boxes in most cases. I have no desire to own one.
I buy books from Germany and do not pay a lot of money to get them. I recall posts here from those in Europe that pointed out where to get the best price for postage depending on which country you lived in. So what has happened is a situation where people were forced out of the paper book market while immediately being offered an "alternative." They can keep it.
