Re: Bf109 WNr, 6322 photo, East Prussia, 1945

The aircraft in the photo is a Bf 109 G-14/AS. For the complete W.Nr., there are two possibilities:

- 166 322, in which case the aircraft was built at Messerschmitt Regensburg as part of a block of c. 40 aircraft between August 1944 and December 1944;

- 786 322, in which case it comes from a block of 22 aircraft constructed by Messerschmitt Regensburg between October 1944 and March 1945.

Considering the late type of lower cowling (unified with the G-10 and K-4) and the positioning of the last four digits of the W.Nr. on the fuselage, I feel this is probably a rather late production G-14/AS, and as such I think 786 322 is indeed the most likely option, as gogh already suggested. Further of note is the long tail wheel, which was not standard on the G-14, but was a standard fit on Regensburg-built G-10 aircraft - additionally indicating it is a late production G-14/AS.
