Interestingg. If he came from 1er RA at Aix then he was serving in the Vichy enclave. Perhaps indeed he was not a pilot but a staff officer with proven loyalty to Vichy? Poret states that the (unidentified) successor to Durieux was a Vichy man. I assumed that he meant the successor in 1941, but perhaps he meant the one who succeeded Durieux after his second period in command in 1942. Poret's books are published in 1991 (i.e. after Adam's death). He does not appear to have been given command of a flying unit after 1943 and retires as a Colonel.
