Jg-6 markings during Bodenplatte

I wonder if anyone could help me regarding the markings of Jg-6 Bf-109s during Operation Bodenplatte.
From what I've read and seen there are two lines of thought regarding the tailbands utilised on Jg-6 109s during this period.
On the one hand eagle editions 'wings of the black cross 2' suggests an application of a white\red band. This stemming from a photo of Bf109 G14 originally believed to be a Jg-77 machine.
To counter this John Manhro and Ron Putz's Bodenplatte book shows a crashed Jg-6 Bf-109 'yellow 19' which appears to be wearing the official red\white\red tailbands.
Does anyone know whether both styles of band were applied or was it just the one type. Any help would be much appreciated.
