Re: Perception of the FAFL by the German during the war

Gilles, bonjour.

This is, in my humble opinion and knowledge, a difficult question. I have never, on all books I do have about the Luftwaffe (war diaries, squadron diaries, etc.) read something related to the FAFL, either a mention or comment, on the personal or intelligence level.

Am sure that specialists with Intelligence Reports, like Nick Beale may have read something at ULTRA; however on the books I have read, nothing is mentioned...not even on the Group de Chasse Normandie-Nièmen.

However, I do believe (but have not read original documents to prove) that the Luftwaffe Intelligence did have information on the Allied Squadrons flying with the RAF. How they (if they did) qualified them vis-a-vis the other Allied airmen (Polish, NZ, Australian, Canadians, etc.) is unknown to me....

A.
