Misidentified He 177

Below are three photos from 1989 Manfred Griehl's book, since then reprinted in many other books, including most recent Smith/Creek –

Identified as an He 177 A-3 of 2./K.G. 100 of Lt. Götze in which he died crashing in March 1944 during Steinbock.

What it looks like, the machine on photos has features of late He 177 A-5 surely not seen on A-3 machines used during Steinbock. Moreover, spinner pattern, codes are in line with I./K.G. 1 machines from known photographs, for example V4+EL and V4+IL, V4+AK.

Your thoughts? Maybe it is already correctly identified and I missed it.
