Photo 1. B-17G 42-97872 IW-A 401BG "Rosie's Sweat Box"; crashed on take-off for Mission 637 (Holland airborne support) from Deenthorpe, down at Weldon, Northants (9 k). Memorial at Upper Benefield.
2. B-17G-SH 42-97600 YB-Y 351BG, Pathfinder for 1st Div. ( plain black triangle no Group letter, also seen on 42-97951 and 42-97701 same group). To 401BG as IN-Y and lost to Flak 21 Nov. 44 on Mission 720 Merseburg. Crashed Behrungen. MACR 10410.
( photos 3-4-5-6 all B-24Ds 308BG China).
3. "Little Flower" 41-24288 , skunk on bomb both sides; crashed 13 Jan. 45 with Air Transport Command, took off Jorhat (Assam) came down at the big Allied base at Bangalore, S. India.
4. 41-24143 "Dippy Dave" crashed 4 May 43 returning from mission to Hainan from Yangkai, out of fuel (crew bailed).
5. 41-24279 "Betty G" crashed 23 April 43 near Chabua (Assam) from Chengkung.
6. 41-24125 "Hell's Angel" (parrot on bomb) at Yangkai 1943.
7. Liberator III FL936 / V 160 Sqn. RAF based at various stations in Ceylon; flew long-range PR and mining missions. Unusual to see finish specs. ( DTD308C / 260A) as here; some sources say had a kangeroo on left side (Aussie pilot?).
