I did look for him on Ancestry and FindMyPast but couldn'd find him at all!
There was a story in the Northern Echo in December 2002 about his death, and has some interesting details of his life.

I did see on the Kracker Archive that another member of the crew was Uffz. K. Matschin, who along with Lugering and one other became a P.o.W. One other crew member was killed in action.
