Hudson loss off southern Norway 28 October 1944
Hudson FK759 of 521 Squadron took-off from RAF Docking at midnight local time on 28 October 1944, for a special meteorological reconnaissance along the southern coast of Norway. Planned route was Docking - 57d 50m N, 07d E - 58d 19m N, 05d 19m N - Docking.
Nothing was heard from the aircraft after it left Docking although a weather report should have transmitted 0300 hours local time.
Low cloud was forecast for the area and it may be this played a part in the Hudson's loss, but could I ask if there were any Luftwaffe claims on this night?
So far as I am aware no wreckage of the aircraft was ever found over Norway.
I don't think I've asked this question previously, at least I'm not getting any hits using key words.
