Emil Omert's brother was Reinhold. He arrived in Africa as a mechanic, at that time EO was Staffelkapitän 8./JG 77. After Emil's death Reinhold went to flight school in Göbingen, but was posted to the Fallschirmjäger in October 44 and saw action in the Ardennes but was injured and taken captive on 16 January 45 (shot while trying to surrender in his own account).
