Re: II./Tr.Gr.186
According to my information the only element of T.Gr.186 on 01.09.1939 was the 4./186 which was equipped with Ju 87s. On 10.09.1939 the order for the reformation of T.Gr.186 was issued. This called for the following units to be formed with immediate effect:
Stab Stukagruppe I./186 (T)
Stukastaffel 1./186 (T)
Stukastaffel 2./186 (T)
Stab Jagdgruppe II./186 (T)
Jagdstaffel 4./186
The old Stukastaffel 4./186 was renumbered 3./186 with effect from 18.09.1939
The old Stab II./186 was renumbered Stab Jagdgruppe II./186 (T) with effect from 18.09.1939.
The equipment was to be as follows:
I./186 (T) with 3 Ju 87B and 3 Ju 52
1./186 (T) with 12 Ju 87B
2./186 (T) with 12 Ju 87B
II./186 with 3 Bf 109E and 1 Ju 52
4./186 (T) with 12 Avia B 534
The formation should take place in Kiel-Holtenau
The old Jagdstaffeln 5. and 6./186 continued with the II. Gruppe as before.
On 17.09.1939 it was calimed that the B 534 was not ideal for the task and a re-equipment to Bf 109 was called for.
On 22.09.1939 the following report was given on the aircraft then available to these units:
I./186 (T): 17 Ju 87B, 14 He 50, 3 Hs 123, 2 W 34, 2 Ju 160 and 1 Bü 131. The following aircraft had been allocated but not yet taken over:
3 Ju 52 and 13 Ju 87B.
II./186 (T): 14 Bf 109B, 12 Bf 109E, 15 B 534, 1 FW 58, 1 FW 44, 2 Bf 108 and 7 He 50. The following aircraft had been allocated but not yet taken over: 3 Bf 109E and 1 Ju 52.
On 03.10.1939 the following was reported:
4./186 previously equipped with 15 Avia B 534 was to receive Bf 109E by 07.10.1939.
5./186 previously equipped with Bf 109B was to receive Bf 109E by 07.10.1939.
On 09.10.1939 the Stab II./186 (T) and 4./186 (T) was transferred from Kiel-Holtenau to Jever and placed under the command of Stab Z.G.26.
The formation history of the Tr.Geschw. 186 is a very complicated one and I will see if I can dig up some more info about the two Jagdstaffeln 5. and 6./186 that was formed before 01.09.1939.
