We were saddened to learn that just a couple of days after we featured his smiling face in our Dauntless for Veterans Day, veteran SBD gunner Richard E. “Dick” Miralles passed away on November 13 at 101 years old. He was the last living member of Air Group Eleven from WWII.
We were honored to have Dick as a guest here back in 2022 when he flew with us in the Dauntless. It was his first time back in an SBD in 79 years. We were happy to add an entry in his logbook. While he was here, he filmed an episode with TJ3 History that you can watch on YouTube at
