Coming at it from the other direction
On the 21st March 1944 Hurricane LD972 of 439 Sqn was hit by P-47 2 m E of Hurn. F/L Pollock RCAF was killed
Assuming the US pilot's a/c recognition was Ok then a SOX is a Hurricane
