I found only one incident where a transport plane (C-46) pilot was "credited" with a shoot down.

So a C-46 (not a C-47) and using a cockpit window (not a porthole window). The pilot,
Walter Anthony Gayda may have been awarded a Silver Star for the incident:

Walter became a commercial pilot after the war. In 1957 he was married (very briefly, as it turned out) to an actress.
