Re: 1st Lt Gordon Leroy Ryerson, 57th FG

Let me back up and provide the reason I enquired about Lt. Ryerson. In one of my books, "Aces against Germany: Volume 2" by Eric Hammel, who is now deceased, the was an account by Lt. Robert "Rocky" Byrne describing a mission on October 30,1942, where the was a strafing attack by the 57th FG against a Luftwaffe Landing Ground at El Daba. In his narration, he described how Lt. Lancaster was shot down by a Bf109.The shot down of Lt. Lancaster happened on November 2,1942, two days later than the mission date of Oct. 30. He also details the fate of Lt. Ryerson;"[0]ne of those lieutenants .Gordon Ryerson, returned to base with a few bullets in him. They got Ryerson to the hospital, but he died on the operating table"
