Re: Allied aircraft photos

POST 89.
1. Most likely 374TCG / 322TCW on Luzon 1945; the 33rd. Sqn. had a red arrow behind the cockpit with a yellow "322TCW" inside, plus white cowl markings and rudder tab. This Sqn. adopted Native American names like Cherokee and Osage.
2. B-29 505BG on Tinian 1945, tail designator Circle "W" and green tip. Group insignia black-white-yellow.
3. 67FS badge with final victory total completed in P-38s; 22.5 shown here but USAF Study 85 awards 23 total. Finished war on Palawan PI; first victory 24 Aug. 1942 (Guadalcanal) last over Singapore 4 Aug. 1945.
4. P-39Q "S" code is Rice AAF CA (others were S-15, S-36, S-63) where 339FG trained Sept. 43--March 44 (note post-July 43 insignia). Previously based at Walterboro AAF SC (code "F") where if the serial is correct she crashed on Nov.11 43.
5. Looks like a P-400 with very early RAF-style camouflage, undersides too light for Neutral Grey so US Sky Type "S" Grey? the coloured nose ring suggests US- based squadron common at the time 41--42.

Nick
