POST 98.
Both are 793BS / 468BG, based Kharagpur in India until moved to W. Field Tinian in 1945. Both survived to be scrapped post-war.
"Bengal Lancer" (reference to India) 42-24487; in India had 2 dark blue rudder stripes (sqn. colour) and blue star in comet both sides. On Tinian was Triangle "I" /32.
"Wichita Witch" 42-24442 (built at Boeing-Wichita) markings as above but Tinian number probably 29. Most 468th B-29s had the "Billy Mitchell" group insignia on tails, his personal House Flag awarded to the Group to recognise their excellent record.
487 had crew chief's choice "Lula Belle" on nose.
